About Primo Balleto
Established in 1990, and now operational in Cheshire and Monmouthshire, Primo Ballettto started life as a regional youth ballet company with premises initially at ACE Academy of Dance in Sandbach and later expanding to Mulberry House in Abergavenny. In summer 2010 we plan to open as a residential school at The Hill, a beautiful mansion in the market town of Abergavenny, located on the edges of the Brecon Beacon mountains. Our aim is to teach the philosophy of ballet to young dancers and passionately believe in the key messages and values this most purest of art forms has to offer.
Our philosophy - "dare to share a dream"
In front of every child and young adult there is a dream, but unlike most dreams this one can come true. Primo Balleto is a dance school that allows each student to fulfil their potential in a happy and safe environment, whilst developing a sense of understanding and compassion for all others. Each child will learn the meaning and value of community. A preparation for life, with a diversity of curriculum and cultural experiences. Expectation and success will be encouraged. We expect all our students to share their dreams and hope we are instumental in helping them achieve them.
Angela Evington RAD RTS (Principal)
Born in Scotland, the youngest of 4 daughters, she had to persuade her parents to send her for ballet lessons. It took time, but after receiving a pair of ballet shoes for her 10th Birthday from her eldest sister, Angela was duly sent to ballet school. Her love of ballet began and her teacher Joan Tucker was truly inspirational. Hard work was rewarded and by the age of 17, she joined the Scottish Ballet Company under the directorship of the late Peter Darrell. Whilst in the company Angela danced many challenging roles in classical ballets including Swan Lake, Giselle, Napoli, Tales of Hoffman, Cinderella, Orfeo, Carmen and La Sylphide where she even had the amazing experience of dancing on stage with Rudolf Nureyev. Her most challenging role to dance was The Russian Princess solo from Swan Lake. Opening her own Academy of Dance, she soon became one of the top ballet schools in the North providing students with high quality dance tuition. In 2003 , she took on another challenge to provide children with the opportunity to perform and develop their talents, and learn just what company life may be like.

The School
Our approach is simple. We do not believe any child should be prejudiced or held back educationally by virtue of attending a premier specialist dance school. At Primo Balletto we ensure that the skills and qualifications attained will mean that all students will have the necessary basis to further their career goals in higher education or vocational development, even if that is not performance arts related. Within half a mile of Primo Balletto are extensive facilities including sports fields and leisure complex, swimming pools, and a Drama School all part of our outreach programme. Between The Hill and Mulberry sites, Primo Balletto offers 160 beds. mostly individual. In 2009 The Hill carried the Visit Wales 3 Star and the prestigious Hospitality Assured quality benchmarks.
